Gerry “5 Star General” Monroe has been a community leader and advocate for educational rights for over the past 15 years. As a native Houstonian, alumnus of Jack Yates High School and active resident of district 131, Mr. Monroe understands the intricate complexities of the communities in and around district 131.

With a bold stance for educational rights and senior security, Mr. Monroe has decided to lead the community in a greater capacity as State House Representative for District 131 to restore our freedoms, faith and families to ensure all Texans have access to the American dream.

Ladies and gentlemen my name is Gerry Monroe and I am in the running to be your next Texas State House Representative for District 131. I believe that our school system is broken and we are at a state of urgency more now than ever for educational reform in district 131. Some of the major issues I feel plague our district are administration priorities, reinvesting in our schools and economic development.

Once I’m elected as State Representative, my primary duties are to create and vote on bills that make new laws or modify and update old ones. My experience as a community advocate and leader for
accountability, integrity, and transparency serve to compliment my qualifications as your State Representative .

Ensuring that district 131 always come first is my top priority; addressing issues such as the imbalance of expenditures in the budget, and reinforcing the standard of education across within our

Having a system at this caliber is very possible but...This isn’t something I can do alone. If we are to accomplish these goals it’s going to take a combined effort of the people in order for us to all move forward together and prioritize the needs of district 131.
